Trout Fishing
Lake Taneycomo is famous for rainbow and brown trout. The upper lake stays cold thanks to releases from Table Rock Lake. That creates the ideal conditions for the trout to thrive. Whether you prefer using light tackle, drifting live bait, or fly fishing, this fishery has something for all skill levels. Some of the rainbows average 12–18 inches, with the possibility of big browns over 20 inches. Early mornings and cool evenings often bring fantastic surface action when trout rise to feed.
Bass Fishing
Moving farther downstream, the waters get warmer. That's where the bass are found. Smallmouth, largemouth, and spotted bass are all over Lake Taneycomo. The lake’s rocky banks, submerged wood, and current breaks create ideal spots to catch game fish. Spring and Fall are usually tge productive seasons, but you can find consistent bass action throughout the year using the right lures.
